Title: SpiralFrog

Following in Seeqpod's footsteps, I have (with my friends help), uncovered this new website called SpiralFrog.com. SpiralFrog.com is a site where you can download free music legally. NOW WAIT JUST A MINUTE! Before you toss this one over your shoulder, consider looking it up a bit. It was only just recently started (September, I believe). How is the music free? It's supported through ads on the site.

Look at the Wikipedia link at the bottom of this post for some more detailed info, but the catch is (there's always a catch), you have to renew your account every 30 days by answering some sort of survey. In addition, you have to renew you music every so often. The music usage is also limited. You cannot burn the music onto CD's, and it ca n only be put on up to 2 portable devices.

The format is WMA"PlayForSure" or something, so it doesn't work with MacOSX, Ipods/Iphone (dezcuba teh muffiner, read a little further down), or the Zune (?). However, as mentioned in the Wikipedia article, there is some program that can remove the encoding or something on the files (Which would, I assume, make it possible to be burned/played on Ipod/Iphone).

Now I've yet to actually use this service thoroughly (I just made my account today), but this looks legit so far. Everything makes sense. Sure, renewing you account and music to keep using it can be a hassle, and the music selection is still lacking is some areas at the moment, but you aren't paying them anything, so you don't really deserve anything. My friend heard about this from the newspaper, so I assume that gives it a little more credibility. What my friend told me (I don't know if he's right or not) is that the government sponsored/backed the creator of this as an alternative to illegal pirating of music over LimeWire and such. I guess that makes sense.

Anywho, tear me to shreds now, find what flaws I missed. I've said what needs to be said.

It's time to see what you think.
